Bank transactions and card payments, in one place

Every business has a bank account, so this is where most bookkeeping starts. Import a CSV, OFX or QFX statement from any bank today, or, once SyncBooks' Plaid connection is live, sync bank transactions daily from US and Canadian banks and card issuers. Bank rules suggest how to record each line, and bank reconciliation matches statement lines to payments, account by account.

On the other side, Stripe card payments let customers pay your invoices and quotes by card through a pay link, with the money going straight to your own Stripe account. Stripe payouts come in with their fees and are matched to the bank deposit, so what you were paid, what Stripe kept and what reached the bank agree.

Banking

  • Statement import

Upload a CSV, OFX or QFX statement from any bank. No connection needed. Works today.

  • Bank feeds through Plaid

Connect a bank or card account at a US or Canadian bank through Plaid. Transactions arrive daily, or when you press Sync now. A line that also arrives in a statement file counts once. SyncBooks shows each connection's health and alerts you when a bank needs you to sign in again. Bank feeds open as soon as SyncBooks' Plaid connection is live. Until then, use statement import.

  • Rules and suggestions

Bank rules match lines by description, amount, direction and account, and suggest how to record each one, with the reason. Past lines from the same payee suggest too. A rule records a line by itself only when you set it to confirm automatically.

  • Record from the statement

Turn an unmatched line into an expense (split if needed), a deposit, a customer payment, or a transfer that matches the lines in both accounts.

  • Reconciliation

Match statement lines to payments and reconcile each account.

  • Receipt inbox

Upload receipts, or have SyncBooks read them from a folder in your company mailbox. PDF receipts are read for vendor, date, total and tax, matched to the bank line, and made into an expense or bill with the file attached. Photos of receipts are typed in by hand.

Payments

Stripe card payments

Connect your company's own Stripe account. Money goes straight to it.

  • Every invoice has a pay link where the customer can view it and pay by card.
  • Quotes can take a card payment too.
  • Deposits get their own pay link.
  • The customer portal lets customers pay several invoices at once.
  • Refunds can go back through Stripe.
  • Payouts matched to deposits

Stripe payouts are read with their fees. Shopify Payments and other processors' payouts can be recorded from their payout files. Each payout posts from the clearing account and is matched to the bank deposit.

  • Receiving payments

Apply one customer payment across several invoices, whether it came by cash, card, check, transfer or Stripe.

  • Paying suppliers

Pay several bills at once in a payment run, one payment per supplier, with open credits taken first and remittance advice emailed to each supplier.

Planned

PayPal, Shopify Payments payouts read directly from Shopify, and Square are planned.
