Getting started
What is SyncBooks?
Accounting software for small businesses: invoices and payments, bank feeds, books that post themselves and reports, with inventory, payroll and mileage when you need them. If you run more than one company or sell on several channels, it handles that too.
Who is it for?
Any small business owner: a dry cleaner with one shop, a self-employed cleaner, a consultant, an online seller. Use what you need: inventory if you keep stock, payroll if you have staff, sales channels if you sell online, and more companies if you run several.
How do I sign up?
Get early access to create an account now. When paid plans open, you will pick a plan on the pricing page and start a 30-day trial.
Do you help with setup?
Yes, by appointment. Book a time and one of us sets SyncBooks up with you: your company, your accounts, your bank and anything you sell through. We do not keep your books for you; we help you get started.
Is there a mobile app?
SyncBooks runs in the browser and works on phones. The one app is SyncBooks Mileage, for recording business trips.
Plans and billing
How much does SyncBooks cost?
There are three plans, Entrepreneur, Mogul and Enterprise, priced by how many companies, users and warehouses you need. Founding members get 25% off. See the pricing page for every plan and add-on.
How long is the trial, and do I need a card?
Paid plans start with a 30-day trial. You add a card at sign-up, it is verified then, and the first charge is on day 30. There are no refunds, so cancel before day 30 if SyncBooks is not for you.
What is a founding member?
The first 1,000 accounts, counted at their first successful charge, keep 25% off Entrepreneur or Mogul and their add-ons for as long as they stay on a paid plan. One founding place per email address and per card. Enterprise has no founding discount.
Do the plans have different features?
No. Every plan has the same tools. They differ in how many companies, users and warehouses they include. Enterprise adds single sign-on.
Does yearly billing save money?
Yes: two months free. You pay for ten months and get twelve. It applies to the plan and its add-ons, not to Payroll or Mileage.
Am I charged by the number of orders?
No. Every plan includes unlimited sales channels and synced orders.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Your workspace goes read-only. You can still see your books and download everything. Nothing is deleted.
Companies and people
Can I run several companies?
Yes. That is what SyncBooks is built for. Entrepreneur holds up to five companies, Mogul up to 25, and Enterprise has no limit.
Can my companies share stock?
Yes. Stock can belong to one company while it sits in another's warehouse, and one company can sell stock another supplies, with the internal sale recorded on both sides.
Can my accountant use SyncBooks?
Yes, free. Invite your accountant by email as a collaborator. Collaborators do not use one of your user seats. An accountant who serves several clients sees all their companies in one list.
Can I control what each person sees?
Yes. Roles are built from view and edit permissions per area, and each person sees only the companies you give them.
Banking, tax and payroll
Which banks can I connect?
You can import statements (CSV, OFX, QFX) from any bank today. Daily bank feeds from US and Canadian banks through Plaid open soon.
Do you handle VAT or GST?
No. SyncBooks handles US sales tax only.
Does SyncBooks file my taxes?
No. SyncBooks works out sales tax per agency and prepares the figures for the liability report, the 1099 report and, with SyncBooks Payroll, W-2, W-3, 941 and 940 figures. You or your accountant file and pay.
Is payroll included?
Payroll is an extra, SyncBooks Payroll, sold with any plan or on its own.
Moving and your data
Can I move from QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. Bring their export files: accounts, customers, suppliers, items, open invoices and bills, the year so far by month and every balance on your cutover date. You preview everything first, and SyncBooks compares the trial balance account by account.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Every report downloads as CSV or PDF, and the workspace owner can download everything the workspace holds as one file.
Can I export to Excel?
Reports download as CSV files, which open in Excel, and as PDFs.
How do you keep my data safe?
Two-step verification, a list of signed-in devices, sealed tax IDs and bank details, an audit log and verified backups.
